Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drug Services, Inc. holds a special distinction in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  We were the first agency to become trained statewide in gambling addiction and the first to have its professional staff certified in the Commonwealth to provide these services.

The professional staff participated in a rigorous 30-hour gambling specific training experience conducted by Joanna Franklin, nationally recognized gambling training expert, and Jim Pappas, Director of the Council on Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania.  After the completion of training, staff became certified by the Pennsylvania Certification Board.  WVADS, Inc. is proud to now be in a position of being an important community resource for those needing gambling specific help.

Additionally, our agency will place major emphasis on presenting community-wide prevention and education programs on gambling and gambling-related topics.

The Counsel on Compulsive Gambling of PA has selected WVADS, Inc as a school based partner for "Smart Choices"; an intensive school based training program for High Schools and Universities on gambling prevention.
